It was my first time taking a conversation class and what I liked the most was being able to build conversations that I would really have on a daily basis, running away from textbook dialogues, focused on self-presentation, hobbies, etc. I was able to talk about subjects of my interest in a natural way, learning the useful vocabulary for my reality and the expressions that really make a difference to talk to Japanese on a daily basis.

I'm Naomi Ussami, 73 years old, retired from the University of São Paulo since 2017. In 2024 I decided to study Japanese because I'm nisei. Even though I'm the daughter of Japanese immigrants, I was never taught the language of my parents and grandparents.
For 2 years I attended a course that uses the Marugoto method. In December 2025 I took the JLPT N5 exam.
In 2 years of Marugoto I wasn't able to develop my conversation skills, and the school didn't offer any practice for that either. With Bia sensei's course I'm finally loosening up in conversation, focusing on topics that interest me right now: travel, transportation, finding my way around cities, memorizing quantities. I'm also reviewing grammar structures, kanji and vocabulary from Marugoto's basic level.

She's super fun and adapts the classes to your level and needs, no matter how well you know Japanese. Even at an upper-intermediate level, I always struggled with conversation, especially on topics off the beaten path.
A big strength for me is that the conversation never feels like an obligation or a rehearsal, but rather a light, fun chat between two people.
Bia always makes a point of bringing new and interesting topics to class, which makes the conversations really rich and natural, unlike what you usually see in Japanese schools. You truly learn the spoken Japanese used in everyday conversations, not the stiff Japanese of textbooks. On top of that, she corrects small speaking mistakes very attentively, which really helps you progress. Each class we also build a list of new vocabulary and useful conversational expressions, so we can check and review everything we've learned!

Information and rules about the course
Yes, all sessions are held via Google Meet.
I offer two formats: 60-minute full lessons and 30-minute express lessons.
After payment confirmation, scheduling is done directly with me via email or chat (WhatsApp/LINE).
For students abroad, I accept transfers via Wise. For residents in Japan, payments can be made via PayPay or bank transfer.
Single lessons: At least one week in advance (time slot is guaranteed upon payment).
Monthly package: Payment must be made on the date defined at the time of purchase.
Rescheduling: Permitted at no extra cost with at least 24 hours' notice.
Cancellation: After payment, there are no refunds, only the option to reschedule within the rules above. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will be considered a completed lesson.
The lessons are conversation-focused, and it is recommended that the student be able to form simple sentences. There is no minimum level required; if you have any doubts, book a trial lesson for assessment.
A 20-minute online session focused on introductions. The goal is for you to get to know my methodology and for me to assess your proficiency level.
